Floral Competition 1998

I am here to blog out of my pressure! Tomorrow I have to sit for a test~ Gosh!
Ok this post is about a floral competition which organized ages ago by Penang Ohara Art Society. I started learning Ikebana at an early age and stopped it at 12 years old due to the hectic high school life. Ikebana is the japanese art of flower arragement. More than simply putting flowers in a container, Ikebna is a disciplined art form in which the arrangement is a living thing where nature and humanity are brought together. Contrary to the idea of floral arrangement as a collection of particolored or multicolored arrangement of blooms, ikebana often emphasizes other areas of the plant, such as its stems and leaves, and draws emphasis towards shape, line, form. Though ikebana is a creative expression, it has certain rules governing its form. The primary rule is that all the elements used in construction must be organic, be they branches, leaves, grasses, or flowers. The artist's intention behind each arrangement is shown through a piece's color combinations, natural shapes, graceful lines, and the usually implied meaning of the arrangement.
At the age of 10, I had participated in a floral competition under junior group and had won my very 1st prize. I was just so excited because many of the participants come with a strong family background in Ikebana. Their parent/s always stand a chance in winning the grand prize in flower arrangement. It was really unbelievable that I beat them down!

My intention behind this arragement is to Bridge Two Different World Together.
"We can co-exist, we can peacefully live together, we can understand each other, we can accept, we can tolerate one another. We can live happily together. Even we are from different cultures and nationalities but we can stand proudly together."

Further indication, the White Peacock and the green plants have a chemical action between African Daisy and Roses. Actually different colors indicate different meanings. For example, white color indicates purity, angel etc; red color indicates hot passion, love etc; pink color indicates love, gladness etc; yellow color indicates cheerful, sunshine etc; green color indicates self-respect and well being etc. With these combination, the two different world can just simply to unite.

Yay~ I were received prize from the Japanese Lady

The other prizewinners are Taiwanese and I am the only Malaysian. Ha ha~
